Meet Our Finalists for 2024 FCS Teacher of the Year

Brandywine ES - Jennifer Smith

Jennifer Smith is a DLI Kindergarten teacher at Brandywine Elementary School. She began her teaching career in 2005 and joined the FCS family in 2015. Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and her master’s degree and concentration in DLI from Georgia State University.

Johns Creek ES - Dawn Chandler

Dawn Chandler is a first-grade teacher at Johns Creek Elementary School. Her teaching career began in 1993, and she came to FCS in 2015. She received her bachelor’s degree from Delaware State University, her master’s degree from Salisbury State University, and her specialist’s degree from Kaplan University.

Lakeside MS - Dawn James

Dawn James is an eighth-grade teacher at Lakeside Middle School. Following a career in the military and law, Dawn began teaching in 2007 and joined the FCS family in 2010. She received her bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College and her Juris Doctorate from Mercer University.

Poole’s Mill ES - Christina Hart 

Christina Hart is the music teacher at Poole’s Mill ES. She began her teaching career in Florida in 2006 and joined the FCS family in 2020 as part of the inaugural Poole’s Mill ES staff. She received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, her master’s degree from Stetson University, and her specialist’s degree from Augusta University.

South Forsyth HS - Kelsey Fusco

Kelsey Fusco is a science teacher at South Forsyth High School. Her teaching career began in 2011, coming to FCS in 2013. She received her bachelor’s degree from Husson University.
