Congratulations to our 2018 Teacher of the Year Finalists!
Elementary School Teacher of the Year- Becky Morris, Shiloh Point ES
Middle School Teacher of the Year- Julie Stephens, Lakeside MS
High School Teacher of the Year- Jonas Strecker, South Forsyth HS
Superintendent Jeff Bearden and James McCoy from the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce surprised the top three finalists for Forsyth County Teacher of the Year by visiting their schools and announcing this honor to their class! They were also joined by James Otwell of Andean Chevrolet who announced that the Forsyth County Teacher of the Year will receive a car lease from their dealership. The Forsyth County Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Celebration of Excellence luncheon on March 9th.
Below is more information about our three finalists:
Becky Morris is the 2018 FCS Elementary School Teacher of the Year. Becky received her bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University. She began her teaching career in 2006 at Shiloh Point ES, where she currently teaches third grade. She has taught second, third and fourth grade.
Julie Stephens is the 2018 FCS Middle School Teacher of the Year. She received her bachelor's degree from Florida State University and master's degree from Grand Canyon University. Julie began her teaching career at Mashburn ES in 2011 teaching third grade. She then came to Lakeside MS as an interrelated special education teacher in 2016.
Jonas Strecker is the 2018 FCS High School Teacher of the Year. Jonas received his bachelor's degree from the University of Bamberg, Germany and master's degree from West Virginia University. He began teaching German at Bethany College in 2000. He joined the FCS family in 2014 at South Forsyth HS.
