Open House Information for Face to Face Kindergarten

Dear Coal Mountain Families,

We are excited to welcome you to Coal Mountain to begin our 2020-2021 journey together. However, it is necessary for us to change the way we typically do Open House to adhere to Forsyth County Schools’ guidelines for reopening schools.  We know it’s not ideal, but for the safety of all of our staff, students, and parents/guardians, only the rising Kindergartener and one parent/guardian may attend Open House. We will have to turn anyone else away with our sincerest apologies. We can’t wait to meet our future Miners!

On Monday, August 3rd, we will have a Kindergarten Bus Round-up for our Kindergarten families. Transportation will call you with the pick up time for your bus stop. When you arrive on campus, you will participate in bus training and learning about the ways our transportation department works to keep your child safe. After this training, you will load your bus and return to your bus stop.  Only the kindergarten student and one guardian will be allowed to attend this event. Masks are expected to be worn.

On Thursday or Friday, August 6th or 7th, your child’s teacher will contact you with Open House information.  This will include a welcome video introducing your child’s teacher, a Sign Up Genius link for a personal tour on August 11th, digital forms for you to complete, and all of the information you need to begin the 2020-2021 school year! The tour will be available for the kindergarten student and one guardian. Teachers of students in grades 1-5 will not be available during this time (please click here for information about Open Air Open House for Grades 1-5).

On Tuesday, August 11th, we will have scheduled times for one guardian and the kindergarten child to come into the school based on your selection on the Sign Up Genius.  Time slots will be assigned between 8:00 AM and 12:30 PM. When you arrive on campus, teachers will greet you in their classrooms and you will have a short time to introduce yourselves as well as tour the classroom.  While in the classroom,  you will pick up your car tags and bus transportation information, turn in any completed beginning of school paperwork, and drop off supplies. Nurse Susan Kawecki will be available for medication drop off and paperwork completion. Visitors are required to wear masks while inside the building and temperatures will be taken.

We are so excited to meet our new gems!
